Several of the village’s hallowed Buddhist stupas, temples, and monasteries were visited by Guru Rinpoche. The Sherpas that live in this town are not too unlike from those in Solu Khumbu, which is to the east.

We next go up to Tarke Ghyang after passing through a few Sherpa settlements and admiring the Himalayan mountains. We will also go to a historic monastery in Tarke Ghyang, which is one of the biggest and most ancient monasteries in this region.

Fun fact: the village is more commonly called Helambu because most of its citizens belong to the Hyolmo caste. The term “Helambu” actually refers to a collective of Tamang and Sherpa communities in this region.

Trip Overview

Helambu Trek

With our Helambu Trek package, you can take a little walk to discover the splendour of Nepal’s Langtang region. Helambu trekking is a low-altitude, frequently less congested journey in contrast to the Everest base camp and Annapurna circuit treks. This is one of our shorter treks in the Langtang Region, northeast of the Kathmandu Valley.

Despite being close to the city, the area’s natural beauty and culture have not been impacted by industrialization. This will give you a glimpse of Nepal’s natural beauty as it truly is.

Some of the key highlights of the Helambu Trek are the beautiful scenery, friendly people, peaceful road, and perfect weather.

As part of the package, you will visit a number of Buddhist temples, shrines, and stupas built in the Tibetan style while trekking to Helambu. You will also pass through a few Tamang and Sherpa communities.

We will cross numerous ridgelines as the trail passes through dense forests filled with blooming rhododendron flowers. The gorgeous view and serene atmosphere created by the verdant fields are amazing.

We offer a 5-day trek to Helambu that is ideal for anyone seeking a less strenuous and more convenient adventure in the Himalayas without sacrificing the breathtaking scenery and unforgettable experiences. With our Helambu Trek package, you may enjoy both comfort and excitement. Make a reservation with us or get in touch with us with any questions.

Helambu Trekking In Nepal

Helambu-Trek-5-Days

The most popular hiking route in the Langtang region is the Helambu short trek. The best cost and itinerary for a 5-to 7-day circuit is provided by Nepal Trek Adventure. This trek can be started from Melamchi Bazar, which is around 60 km away, or Sundarijal, which is 26 km away, both from Kathmandu.

It is situated northeast of Kathmandu and stretches from Taramarang to the lower slopes of Jugal Himal and the tree line of Gosainkunda Lake. Numerous highland Tamang and Sherpa settlements may be found there, dispersed on both sides of the Melamchi Khola.

Helambu Short Trekking are tailored to the preferences of our guests, and we may create an itinerary to suit their needs. With mountains rising to the sky on both sides of the valley, the Langtang valley is fittingly named “the valley of glaciers” due to its breathtaking mountain scenery.

The valley is home to pine forests, meadows scattered with daisies and wild primulas, rocky outcrops and snow-capped summits, and fast-flowing rivers and mountain streams.

The valley’s upper reaches are home to furious torrents, mist-covered high passes, tiny lakes encrusted with icebergs, and sparkling clear waters. This walk is easier than the others because it is at a lower elevation—between 800 and 3600 meters—and has warmer temperatures and less climbing.

Important Tips for Helambu Short Trek

Here are some crucial pointers to help you have a more enjoyable and easy walk before you set out on the five-day Helambu walk.

  1. Safe drinking water is important when trekking, and we recommend consuming three to four litres of water per day at the very least (this helps with dehydration and altitude sickness).
  2. Remember to pack tablets for water purification.
  3. Water from or other direct water sources should not be consumed.
  4. Make sure you have adequate cash with you before trekking because there may not be ATMs available in the area.

After that, the Helambu trip path will continue from Chispani to Thadepati, the hike’s highest point (3,650m).

The path meanders through terraced rice fields, a dense forest of bamboo and rhododendron, and cascading waterfalls. It also goes by a number of Sherpa communities, such as Kutumsang and Gul Bhanjyang.

Then, after admiring the spectacular Himalayan scenery from Thadepati, you will descend to Melamchi Gaun and cross the Melamchi Khola to arrive at Tarke Gyang, another Sherpa village.

The Helambu caste, often known as Helambu, makes up the bulk of the population in this village. After that, you’ll journey to Sermathang, another quaint town, via Chumik and Ghangyul. Lastly, you’ll travel to Kathmandu and approach Melamchi Pul Bazar.

Difficulty Of Helambu Trek And Preparation

Trekking to Helambu takes three to seven hours per day, depending on the area, with frequent stops to enjoy the mountain views. The Helambu trip is easy and rewarding.

The journey routes include long hikes, abrupt rises and descents, steep forward pathways that are often rocky, and they pass through various woodlands; the more fit you are, the more enjoyable and wonderful your travel will be.

This will be helpful if you enjoy hiking or have any previous experience, but it’s not necessary. We do not recommend this walk for anybody with sensitive medical conditions, such as heart or lung illness.

Food During The Trek To Helambu

High-altitude trekking requires appropriate sustenance, which is why we’ll provide you with a plentiful supply of tasty, hygienic, and nutrient-rich meals.

Your options will be limited to those found in larger cities; the further you are from the cities, the fewer alternatives you will have for meals. Over the course of the walk, you will be served five breakfasts, five lunches, and four dinners.

Our menu will consist of both conventional Western and Asian foods as well as plenty of fresh vegetables and plenty of water, green tea, lemon tea, hot tea, ginger tea, and garlic soup.

While there are plenty of non-vegetarian options on the hiking routes, we strongly advise against consuming them because of meat hygiene concerns. Dairy products, alcohol, and caffeine should also be avoided during the walk.
