A wonderful morning is spent driving a car/van to Kathmandu’s Domestic airport. It requires a quarter of an hour to arrive. We must start boarding one hour before the flight.
Nonetheless, the flight offers enjoyable vistas of the scenery and the Himalayas. The journey from Kathmandu to Lukla by flight will take 45 minutes.
Enjoy breakfast upon arrival in Lukla, then hike for 3 hours to Phakding where you will spend the night at the Phakding lodge/guest house.
The trek begins after having breakfast at Phakding near the Jorshalle checkpoint, and it involves crossing the Dudkoshi River multiple times.
After having lunch at the Jorshalle, proceed towards Namche Bazaar. Typically, it requires a five-hour journey to reach Namche. If the sky is clear, you will see Mount Everest for the first time on the way to Namche.
Namche Bazaar, situated at an altitude of 3450m, serves as the gateway to Everest Trekking, where the Sherpa people are accustomed to balancing their tourism trade and potato agriculture. Stay at the hotel in Namche Bazaar for one night.
Namche Bazaar stands at an altitude of 3450 meters above sea level. Enjoy breakfast at the Hotel and then visit the viewpoint, Khumjung monastery, and Sagarmatha National Park Museum.
The viewpoint and Khumjung monastery stand slightly above the national park, offering excellent views of Mt. Everest, Amadablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and other mountains.
However, we strongly suggest venturing out at a higher elevation during the daytime and coming back to Namche for the night, staying in the same hotel overnight.
Following successful acclimatization, we will hike to Tyangboche in the morning after having breakfast.
The path offers a more extensive experience, showcasing views of the Himalayas. Embark on a journey to Phorche, cross the suspension bridge, enjoy a meal, and then proceed on the trek to Tyangbouche through rhododendron and pine forest.
Take a break at the guest house, then in the evening, visit the monastery and have dinner before spending the night at the guest house.
Make your way to Dingboche at an altitude of 4240m. It takes four-fifths of an hour to walk from Tyangbouche to Dingboche.
The hiking route is straightforward through Pangboche and Somera, near Mt. Amadablam is a majestic mountain. Nevertheless, stop for a meal at the Somare and then proceed on to Dingboche.
Dine in the cozy dining room and stay overnight at the tea house.
Lobuche stands at an altitude of 4930 meters above sea level. The place is beautiful as we begin our trek from Dingboche right after having breakfast.
The initial section of the trekking path involves a leisurely stroll through the yak meadow. Immediately after passing over the Khumbu Glacier to reach Thukla Lodge.
Eat a small meal at the Lodge before beginning to ascend Thukla Pass. The Pass is a little congested. Nevertheless, ensure you stay hydrated, trek to the Pass, and reach Lobuche.
Stay overnight at the Tea House with dinner included.
Yes, today is the day we reach the final destination of our trip.
Nevertheless, get up early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and begin your journey towards Gorakshep by foot. In order to get to Gorakshep, we need to hike across the glaciers, but the view of the mountains will be panoramic.
In three hours, we’ll arrive at Gorakshep, settle in at the guest house, eat lunch, and then proceed to Everest Base Camp without carrying a bag.
Arrive at Base Camp, then head back to Gorakshep for dinner and stay overnight at the guest house.
Another perspective and the peak of the Kalapathar Trekking Expedition.
Hike to Kalapathar early in the morning with a headlamp and dress warmly; must reach the summit before sunrise.
At the summit of Kalapathar, you will enjoy a morning view of the Himalayas, which includes Mount Everest. Likewise, descend to Gorakshep, enjoy a hot breakfast, and proceed to Lobuche for lunch.
Following lunch, the journey proceeds towards Dzongla at an elevation of 3830 meters. Dine and stay overnight at a tea house.
Indeed, it is another difficult day to traverse the Chola pass. (5.42 kilometers) Nevertheless, make sure to depart from the hotel early in the morning to reach the summit.
The journey to the Thangnang takes 4 hours uphill and another 2 hours downhill. From the summit of Chola, magnificent 360-degree panoramas of the Himalayas are visible.
Enjoy an overnight stay at the Thangnang guest house with dinner included.
Indeed, we should proceed towards Gokyo Lake via the longest glacier in Nepal, which is the Ngozumpa Glacier.
The hiking path passes by the blue ice glaciers. The glacier begins at the peak of Mt. Mount Cho Oyu. Nevertheless, you will likely experience sunny weather, and hiking to Gokyo Lake remains a difficult task.
Three to four hours will be required. Enjoy lunch and spend a complimentary day and night at the Guesthouse.
Another great viewing spot in the Khumbu region is hiking at the Gokyo-Ri. Situated at an elevation of 5360 meters above sea level, this location offers stunning views of Cho Oyu, Mount Everest, Makalu, Nupshe, Lhoshe, and other peaks in the Himalayan range.
Nevertheless, appreciate the scenery and descend to Gokyo Valley, have lunch, and discover Gokyo Lake. Spending the night in Gokyo.
Begin descending to Dole after having breakfast and discover the Everest Himalayas.
Nevertheless, it will require an additional 5 hours to reach the Dole; you will have the opportunity to spot the Himalayan Thar and blue sheep on the journey.
Arrive at the hotel and enjoy a day off for free. Stay at the Hotel in Dole for one night. (4.04 kilometers)
We make our way down to Manjo through Khumjung and Namche Bazaar while looking back at Mount Everest, Amadablam, and Thamserku.
Yet, lunch in Namche Bazaar and then hike to Manjo. The trek lasts a total of 5 hours. Spending the night at Manjo guest house.
Enjoy breakfast at the Manjo before embarking on a trek to Lukla through Phakding, Ghat, and Chhuplung. Grab a meal at the Chhuplu before proceeding to Lukla.
Traveling along the farmer’s terrace consumes 5 hours. Nonetheless, you will arrive at Lukla and stay overnight at the Hotel/Resort.
Enjoy breakfast at the Hotel in Lukla, and make sure to arrive at the airport one hour before your flight (preferably an earlier one).
The Kathmandu airport can be reached in 45 minutes by air. We will provide transportation from the Domestic airport to the Hotel in Kathmandu either by car for individuals or by van/bus for groups. Overnight stay at the Hotel in Kathmandu.

The trek begins with an arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, where trekkers are greeted and transported to their hotel. This first day is dedicated to settling in and acclimating to the new environment. Depending on the time of arrival, there is an option to explore the city or simply rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.
On the second day, an early morning flight takes the group from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small town nestled in the mountains. This 45-minute flight offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape. Upon landing in Lukla, the trek officially begins with a three-hour hike to Phakding, where trekkers spend the night in a local lodge or guest house.
The journey from Phakding to Namche Bazaar on the third day involves a five-hour trek, passing through Jorshalle and crossing the Dudhkoshi River multiple times. The route offers the first glimpses of Mount Everest, setting the stage for the adventures to come. Namche Bazaar, a bustling hub for trekkers and Sherpa people, serves as the destination for the night.
Day four is dedicated to acclimatization in Namche Bazaar, which sits at an elevation of 3,800 meters. Trekkers can explore local attractions such as the Khumjung Monastery and the Sagarmatha National Park Museum. These excursions not only provide cultural insights but also help with altitude adjustment, an essential aspect of high-altitude trekking.
The trek continues on the fifth day from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche, a journey that takes approximately five hours. Along the way, trekkers descend to Phortse, cross a suspension bridge, and ascend through rhododendron and pine forests to reach Tengboche. The day concludes with a visit to the famous Tengboche Monastery, a spiritual highlight of the trek.
From Tengboche, the route leads to Dingboche on the sixth day, a four to five-hour trek that offers views of Mount Amadablam and passes through the villages of Pangboche and Somare. Dingboche, located at 4,410 meters, provides another opportunity for acclimatization and rest.
On the seventh day, the trek heads to Lobuche, situated at 4,950 meters. This five-hour hike begins with a gentle walk through yak pastures and becomes more challenging as it approaches the Khumbu Glacier. After a lunch break at Thukla Lodge, trekkers cross the Thukla Pass, a steep but rewarding ascent, before reaching Lobuche for the night.
The eighth day is a significant milestone as trekkers reach Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp. This day involves approximately eight hours of hiking, including a challenging walk over glaciers. Upon reaching Gorakshep, trekkers leave their bags and continue to Everest Base Camp. After celebrating this achievement, they return to Gorakshep for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day nine begins with an early morning hike to Kalapathar, the highest viewpoint of the trek at 5,545 meters. Trekkers witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas, including Mount Everest. After descending to Gorakshep for breakfast, the trek continues to Dzongla, where the group spends the night.
Crossing the Chola Pass on the tenth day is one of the trek’s most challenging yet rewarding experiences. Starting early in the morning, trekkers ascend to the pass at 5,420 meters, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. The descent leads to Thangnang, where trekkers rest for the night.
The eleventh day takes the group to Gokyo Lake via the Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest glacier in Nepal. This three to four-hour trek offers stunning views of blue ice formations and the towering Mount Cho Oyu. Upon reaching Gokyo, trekkers can relax and enjoy the serene beauty of the lake.
Day twelve includes an ascent to Gokyo Ri, another spectacular viewpoint at 5,360 meters. From the summit, trekkers can see a panorama of peaks including Everest, Makalu, Nuptse, and Lhotse. After descending, the rest of the day is free to explore the Gokyo Valley and its surrounding lakes.
The descent continues on the thirteenth day, with a five-hour trek from Gokyo to Dole. This part of the journey offers opportunities to spot Himalayan wildlife such as the Himalayan Thar and blue sheep. Trekkers spend the night in Dole, a village at 4,040 meters.
On the fourteenth day, the trek leads to Manjo, passing through Khumjung and Namche Bazaar. This five-hour trek provides a chance to reflect on the journey while enjoying the reverse views of Mount Everest and other peaks. The group spends the night in Manjo.
The fifteenth day involves a four-hour trek from Manjo to Lukla, passing through Phakding, Ghat, and Chhuplung. Upon reaching Lukla, trekkers can celebrate the completion of their trekking adventure with an overnight stay in a local hotel or resort.
Day sixteen marks the return to Kathmandu with a 45-minute flight from Lukla. Upon arrival, trekkers are transported to their hotel, where they can relax and enjoy the comforts of the city.
The seventeenth day is free for shopping or sightseeing in Kathmandu. Trekkers have the option to explore the historic Patan Durbar Square or simply enjoy the day at their leisure.
The final day, day eighteen, concludes with a departure from Kathmandu. After breakfast, trekkers are transported to Tribhuvan International Airport for their onward journey, marking the end of an unforgettable trekking adventure.
This 18-day Chola Pass Trekking adventure includes various services such as airport pick-up and drop-off, meals during the trek, accommodation in guest houses and hotels, experienced guides, necessary permits, and flight tickets from Kathmandu to Lukla and back. Trekkers are also provided with trekking maps, sleeping bags, and down jackets if needed. However, the package does not include personal expenses such as drinks, entrance fees to monasteries, and tips.
