Day 1 Arrive at Lhasa (3,650 m)

Your journey begins with your arrival in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet. At an altitude of 3,650 meters, Lhasa is known for its historic architecture and spiritual significance. You will be transferred from the airport to your hotel where you can rest and acclimate to the high altitude. Spend the evening at leisure, exploring the local surroundings or relaxing in preparation for the adventure ahead.

Day 2 Guided Sightseeing Tour of Lhasa City

Today, you will embark on a guided sightseeing tour of Lhasa. The tour includes visits to iconic landmarks such as the Potala Palace, the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, and the Jokhang Temple, one of the most revered temples in Tibetan Buddhism. You will also have the opportunity to explore Barkhor Street, a bustling market area where you can observe local Tibetan life and perhaps purchase some traditional crafts.

Day 3 Drive to Tsedang (3,580 m) – 290 km

After breakfast, you will drive to Tsedang, located at an altitude of 3,580 meters. The journey covers approximately 290 kilometers and takes you through picturesque landscapes, passing by the Yarlung Tsangpo River and small Tibetan villages. Tsedang is known as the “cradle of Tibetan civilization” and is home to some of the oldest and most important monasteries and temples in Tibet.

Day 4 Guided Sightseeing Tour of Tsedang

Today’s sightseeing tour in Tsedang includes visits to significant historical and cultural sites. You will explore the Yumbulagang Palace, believed to be the first building in Tibet, and the Trandruk Monastery, one of the earliest Buddhist monasteries in the region. These sites offer fascinating insights into the history and spiritual traditions of Tibet.

Day 5 Drive to Gyantse (3,900 m) – 350 km

The drive to Gyantse covers around 350 kilometers and takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Tibet. En route, you will pass by the stunning Yamdrok Tso Lake and the towering Karo La Glacier. Gyantse, situated at an altitude of 3,900 meters, is known for its historic fortress and the unique Kumbum Stupa, a multi-tiered structure filled with chapels and exquisite murals.

Day 6 Drive to Shigatse (3,900 m) – 100 km

A short drive of 100 kilometers brings you to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Shigatse is home to the Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama. The monastery is an architectural marvel, housing a giant statue of the Maitreya Buddha and an impressive collection of ancient scriptures and artwork.

Day 7 Drive to Lhasa (3,650 m) – 280 km

Today, you will drive back to Lhasa, covering a distance of 280 kilometers. The return journey offers more stunning views of the Tibetan plateau, with its vast landscapes and distant mountain ranges. Upon arrival in Lhasa, you can spend the evening exploring more of the city or simply relaxing at your hotel.

The tour also includes a visit to the Trandruk Monastery, one of the earliest Buddhist monasteries in Tibet, founded in the 7th century.
