The drive to Thimphu takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, allowing you to soak in the beautiful landscapes. Upon arrival in Thimphu, you will check into your hotel and have the rest of the day to relax and acclimatize.
Today, you will embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Thimphu. After breakfast, you will visit the Memorial Chorten, a prominent landmark built in memory of the third King of Bhutan. After breakfast, you will drive back to Thimphu, stopping at Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan, built in 1629. This dzong now houses a school for Buddhist studies.
