Day 1 Flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding

  • Three hours in length
  • Peak Elevation: 2610 metres;
  • AccommodationTea Room

It’s a lovely little flight. We are flying parallel to the massive Himalayan range that borders Tibet and Nepal. When you get to Lukla, our guide will present you to the porters. While the Sherpa staff loads and sorts equipment, we will have a little opportunity to visit the settlement. When we’re ready, we set off on a quick walk that descends to the village of Choblung in the Dudh Kosi Valley to the northwest on a broad trail. The valley is home to a stunning rhododendron and pine forest. We stroll along the river’s path, via the village of Ghat, on an easy stroll. We arrive in the village of Phakding after three hours.

Day 2 Phakding to Namche Bazar

We ride a popular trail towards the valley from Phakding. We often employ porters and sherpas from the Solu district to transport the essential supplies to Namche. On their backs, Sheprpa’s “Zopkio,” an animal that resembles a cross between a cow and a yak, carry or transport climbing and trekking equipment.
Along the Dudh Kosi River, the walk meanders through aromatic blue pine and fir woodland, offering breathtaking views of Thanserku (6,608m) and Kusum Kangru (6,369m). We head for the Sagamartha (Everest) National Park entrance after crossing the Dudh Kosi once more to reach the western bank at Jorsale. After passing the massive suspension bridge, we continue upstream along the banks to the meeting point of the Bhote Kosi and Dudh Koshi. From here, we start our first sustained ascent to Namche Bazar. As we stroll slowly, we will be able to snap pictures of the first glimpses of the peaks of Taweche (6,542m), Arna Dablam (6,856m), Lhotse (8,511m), Nuptse (7,879m), and Everest (8,848m). We retrace our steps and pass through pine forests before arriving at Namche Bazar, our overnight destination.

Day 3 Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar

  • Duration: One day;
  • Peak Altitude: 3440
  • RoomsTea room

It’s crucial that you use today to relax and acclimatise. Namche is well-known for its weekly local market, when Sherpas from the nearby villages gather to buy food and other necessities for everyday life. Here, they mingle as well. Any food that is not farmed nearby, such rice, maize and some vegetables, is transported from Namche Bazar’s lowland settlements, which can require up to ten days of walking.
A beautiful daybreak and sunrise over the Khumbu peaks awaits those who ascend to the ridge above Namche by rising early. You can take a stroll down the Thami Valley in the afternoon or visit the National Park Headquarters to view the informative exhibits on the Sherpa way of life and culture, mountaineering in the park, and the local flora and fauna. Spend the night in Namche Bazaar.

Day 4 Namche Bazar to Dole

  • Peak Elevation: 4038 metres;
  • AccommodationTea Room

After eating breakfast this morning, we set out on our walk early. The trek to Kenjompa is well worth it because of the breathtaking views of the mountains and the pleasant stroll through the forest. Exciting sights to observe during an uphill stroll near Mung Dada include Amadablam, Khangteka, Thamserku, Kurum Khangru, Kongde, and Kongde-Ri. We continue on to Dole, where we will spend the night.

Day 5 Dole to Machherma

  • Maximum Altitude: 4360 metres
  • AccommodationTea Room

The trail ascends from Dole to Lambara (4,220 m) and Luza (4,360 m). The trail climbs through scrub junipers, much of it steep. Every time there’s a flat area with even a hint of water, there are kharkas. On this side of the valley, all the kharkas are owned by people from Khumjung. The paths keep climbing up the valley’s side until they reach Machherma, which is high above the river and crosses sand dunes.

.

Day 6 Machherma to Gokyo

  • Maximum Altitude: 4750 metres
  • AccommodationTea Room

The trail ascends a ridge to provide fantastic views of Cho Oyu (8153m) and Kantega below the valley. Beyond the crest, the valley opens up as the trail ascends to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier, passing through Pangka at 4390 metres before descending to the riverbank. There is a family of green Braminy ducks living at the first little lake at 4650 metres after a strenuous ascent over the moraine and switchbacking across the stream. At last, we arrive at Gokyo, our destination, which is 4,750 metres above sea level.

Day 7 Acclimatization Day (Gokyo Ri)

  • Peak Elevation: 5483 metres;
  • AccommodationTea Room

Following breakfast, we will make the difficult ascent to the summit of the little peak above the lake, Gokyo Ri (5483m). This location offers an amazing perspective of the Gokyo region. Reaching the summit takes two hours and offers sweeping views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, and Twachee.
