You’ll have an acclimatisation day today. Our bodies can adjust to a day of rest and acclimatisation before moving to a higher altitude. The next day, we attempt to cross the Shipton La.
We now begin our ascent up the valley, passing through boulder fields and yak pastures. The southeast crest of Mount Makalu becomes visible as one approaches Shersong. Camping area in Shersong.
After leaving Shersong, we retrace our steps down the valley, catching one more look at Makalu before rounding a bend and arriving at Yangle Kharka.
Today we are going down from Yangle Kharka.Next, ascend the rocky ravine to reach Mumbuk. The lush vegetation underneath us will welcome us once more.
Following your trek from Mumbuk, you will pass through a grove of fir and rhododendron trees. Go over the Ghungru, Shipton, and Keke las. Proceed once again to Khogma.
We frequently travel to Tashigaon these days. There will be a lengthy, steep fall. And finally, we traverse the hillside to arrive at Tashi Gaon, the Sherpa town.
We are retracing our steps along the route we first took. We leave the camp of Makalu Barun. Proceeding towards Arun Khola and Seduwa once more, we will go through the jungle till we reach Num. Following along our footsteps, we descend all the way back to the river and then climb back up the other side of the valley to Num.
We take the same route back to Chichila. Our ultimate trek return will enable us to spend the night at Tumlingtar, preparing us for an early departure the next day to Kathmandu. Make your way to Tumlingtar.
Our tour comes to an end with a flight to Kathmandu. We’re going back to the Kathmandu hotel.

The most popular trekking destination in Nepal for lone hikers is Makalu Base Camp Trekking. It provides the most enjoyable and joyful experience in the Himalayas. It brings you face to face with Mount Makalu (8463m), the fifth-highest mountain in the world, which is located in Makalu Barun National Park.
The hike to Makalu Base Camp takes us from a pleasant plain to a height of 5000 metres. This journey allows you to enter and explore the 2330 square kilometre Makalu Barun National Park, which is located in Nepal’s Solukhumbu and Sankhuwasabha districts.
There is an abundance of both vegetation and fauna in this park. The main thing that elevates and beautifies this trekking path is the sensation of being in Heaven and surrounded by the Himalayas.
Trekking to the base camp of Mount Makalu offers the best views of the mountain as well as neighbouring ranges such as Everest, Lhotse, Chamlang, and so on. You get a heavenly sense from this reward of a vista.
Depending on how fit you are, there may be parts of this walk that are rather difficult. Because of base camp’s amazing environment, the route offers amazing diversity, a distinctive cultural legacy, and stunning vistas of mountain peaks. These factors draw many trekkers to experience the route’s hidden beauty, which will always be treasured.

One of the most popular isolated and pristine trekking routes in Nepal’s eastern area is the Makalu Base Camp Trek. With its charming perspective that offers peace to hikers and other guests, it has established itself in low-key situations.
The views of mountain ranges including Mount Everest, Mount Chamlang, and Mount Lhotse, as well as the incredibly beautiful flora and wildlife, are the main features of this walk. An additional park with significant attraction value is Makalu Barun National Park.
The main highlights of the journey include the Sherpa hamlet with its own culture and traditions, as well as Kekela Pass (4230m) and Tutu La Pass (4200m).
You can do the Makalu base camp trek with Nepal Trek Adventure & Expedition for a low, negotiated pricing and a fully customisable schedule. We welcome hikers to come on amazing exploration trips and take in the breathtaking vistas. You will carry this walk with you forever, leaving a lasting impression on your thoughts and recollections.
1. Cuisine: Although the exact cuisine served during the journey is unknown, it is more than enough for hikers to experience Nepali culture and satisfy their hunger. In locations without motels, it’s also advised to have some noodles and biscuits in case of an emergency or hunger strike.
2. Greatest seasons: The greatest times to walk to Makalu Base Camp are in the spring (March, April, May) and autumn (September, October, November). At lower and mid-elevations, the temperature is still pleasant, and the weather is still the best. While trekking is possible throughout the winter, it is not highly advised owing to the cold. Additionally, lodges aren’t really well-equipped in the cold.
3. Arriving and departing: Flying from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, which is around 500 km east of Kathmandu, is the most popular method of beginning the trip. The two main airlines that are in operation are Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines, both of which run daily flights.
4. Permissions: This trekking route requires two main permissions. They are as follows:
5. Difficulty level: While this walk presents some challenges for novices, mountaineers and other trekkers/hikers won’t find it too difficult. I would rate the difficulty level as six out of ten. The itinerary’s extra days of acclimatisation help a lot in keeping oneself relaxed and refreshed, which lowers the degree of difficulty.
