The 19-day Nar Phu Valley Trekking adventure offers a unique blend of cultural immersion, scenic landscapes, and challenging trails through the remote valleys of the Annapurna region. This trek takes you through the restricted areas of Nar and Phu villages, providing an authentic experience of the hidden culture and traditions of the Tibetan inhabitants. The journey starts and ends in Kathmandu, involving a mix of transportation methods, including buses, jeeps, and trekking on foot.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by our ground staff and transported to your hotel in Thamel, a vibrant area known for its shops and eateries. In the evening, there will be a briefing session with the trekking guide, preparing you for the adventure ahead. The next day, a jeep ride takes you to Chamje, a small village in the Manang district, marking the beginning of the trekking journey.
The trek from Chamje to Dharapani is relatively gentle, with occasional gradual inclines. You will traverse suspension bridges and pass through charming villages such as Tal, with its turquoise waters and prayer wheels. Dharapani serves as a junction for the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit treks. The next leg takes you to Koto, located near the confluence of the Marsyangdi River and Nar Khola. The trail ascends through rocky hillsides and narrow corridors, passing picturesque villages and multiple suspension bridges.
From Koto, the trek diverges from the Marsyangdi River and heads north through the Nar River basin. You will cross several suspension bridges and pass through Singenge Dharmshala before reaching Meta, a village with a distinct Himalayan ambiance. The next day’s trek to Kyang follows an easy route through the river basin, offering views of the Chulu Mountains and passing through settlements like Junam Goth and Upper Chyako. Kyang, located beside the Phu River, provides a flat farmland area with spectacular mountain views.
Continuing the journey, you will trek from Kyang to Phu, passing through rocky terrains and landslide areas. Phu village, situated at the backdrop of Kangla Himal, offers a glimpse into rural life with its mud houses and pasturelands. You will have an exploration day in Phu, visiting Buddhist monasteries, waterfalls, and traditional houses. This day also includes a hike to a hill station for panoramic views of the Annapurna and Lamjung Himal ranges.
The trek from Phu to Check involves ascending to Phu Pass at 5050 meters and then descending to Check, a village located beside the Loha River. The following day, the trail ascends to Nar Pass and then descends to Nar village, offering breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountains. From Nar, the trek continues to Manang via Kangla Pass, the highest point of the trek at 5300 meters. The trail is steep and challenging, with several switchback ascents and descents. Manang, a prominent settlement, offers a blend of traditional charm and modern conveniences, making it an ideal place for acclimatization.
After a rest day in Manang, you will trek to Yak Kharka, passing through quaint villages and crossing suspension bridges. The trail to Thorung Phedi involves traversing landslide-prone areas and ascending steeply to High Camp. This section requires caution due to the risk of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) and falling stones. The next day, you will face the most challenging part of the trek as you ascend to Thorung-La Pass, the highest pass in the world. The trail is adorned with Buddhist prayer flags, creating a lively atmosphere. From the pass, the descent leads to Muktinath, a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.
The trek from Muktinath to Jomsom passes through the semi-arid terrain of the Mustang region, offering views of the towering Dhaulagiri. The journey concludes with a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, providing a brief yet scenic aerial view of the region. The final leg involves a return to Kathmandu, where you can reflect on the incredible experiences of the Nar Phu Valley Trekking adventure.
Throughout the trek, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the Tibetan inhabitants, witness their traditional way of life, and explore the hidden gems of the Nar and Phu valleys. The natural landscape, including the panoramic views of the Annapurna range, adds to the allure of this trek, making it a memorable journey for adventure enthusiasts and culture seekers alike.
