Day 2 Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

On the first day of our vacation, start the day with a delicious breakfast at your accommodation before we depart for Pokhara. Bright and early, get ready for a breathtaking trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Depending on traffic and road conditions, traveling the 200 kilometers by tourist bus often takes 6-7 hours. There are several modes of transportation available, including taxis, private vehicles, and tour busses. Because they are reasonably priced and offer a nice trip, tourist buses are an excellent choice. However, although they can be a little more expensive, private vehicles or taxis provide greater flexibility.

As you journey to Pokhara, give yourself ample time to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings. Views of terraced farmland, thick forests, and the spectacular Himalayan mountains in the distance will astound you. We will make a lunch stop at a quaint local restaurant along the road so you can enjoy the delicious flavors of Nepali food and take a well-earned break before continuing on. Malekhu is a well-liked option for a filling dinner because of its delicious fish dishes.

Pokhara: When you arrive in Pokhara, the verdant hills and tranquil charm of Phewa Lake will welcome you. You may explore and enjoy a range of stores, pubs, and restaurants in Lakeside.

Pokhara offers a diverse selection of lodging options, ranging from reasonably priced guesthouses to luxurious resorts, all of which are well located with breathtaking views of the lake and the Annapurna range.
Seven to eight hours total of driving (from Kathmandu to Pokhara)
Accommodations: Twin sharing at a three-star hotel in Pokhara
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included.

Day 3 Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga

There are two options for the third day of the ABC trek: either drive to Nayapul or go straight to Tikhedhunga. Permit me to explain both stages in more detail.

Step 1: Hike to Nayapul
For those who choose to drive, the lovely village of Nayapul, which is at an elevation of about 1,070 meters (3,510 feet), is the starting point for the Annapurna base camp hike. Here’s a taste of what you could get if you choose this path:

The journey starts with a picturesque drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which could take anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Beautiful views of the tiered farms, rushing rivers, and rural environment can be seen during the route from Pokhara to Nayapul. During the journey, you’ll also pass by a few charming villages. It is crucial that you check your permits at the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) checkpoint as soon as you arrive at Nayapul. Obtaining all necessary permits is essential before starting your hike.

The trip, which covers a distance of roughly 7-8 kilometers, usually takes 4-5 hours, depending on how quickly you move and how frequently you stop. There are a few short inclines in the mainly flat route that leads from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga. Walking along the banks of the Modi Khola river is the reasonably easy path that leads from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga. You will observe mule trains transporting goods to remote mountain settlements and inhabitants going about their everyday business while you stroll.

Step 2: Hike straight to Tikhedhunga
Alternatively, you can start your walk from Nayapul and go directly to Tikhedhunga without having to use a car. For individuals who wish to get the most out of their trekking experience from the beginning, this option is ideal.

In the event that you choose this option, you will need to arrange transportation from Pokhara to Nayapul, which is a shorter distance than driving there. You will start your hike from Nayapul and follow the previously indicated track towards Tikhedhunga. As previously stated, the trek’s length and mileage are unchanged.

The walk offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys, and you’ll be accompanied the entire way by the peaceful sound of the river. There are well-marked trails across the region that take you past colorful forests, terraced fields, and charming towns home to Gurung and Magar cultures. After several hours of hiking, you will reach the quaint small settlement of Tikhedhunga, which is tucked away in the highlands. Trekkers can find comfortable lodging in the quaint teahouses and lodges located in this charming area. You will have the chance to recuperate and rejuvenate at Tikhedhunga following an arduous hiking day, readying yourself for the next day’s exploration of the magnificent Annapurna region.

  • Travel Time: Two hours
  • Trekking Length: 5.7 miles / 9.2 kilometers (Nayapul to Tikhedhunga)
