The twin-engine airplane takes off after flying off from Kathmandu for Lukla. The brief 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is breathtaking as we soar parallel to the Himalayan ranges separating Nepal and Tibetan China. Amazing views of terraced hills and the distant Himalayan peaks can be seen from the plane, as well as other stunning scenery. You will meet the rest of your staff/porters after arriving in Lukla (2840m), where your guide will hire them for the rest of your trek. The route descends briefly and then steeply to Chheplung (2660m), where you must cross a suspension bridge before you can see Mount Kusum Kanguru at the valley’s top (6367m).After crossing a bridge, a little ascent leads to Ghat (2590 m), which is located on the banks of the Dudh Koshi River. A short trip to a monastery is followed by a short, easy walk before another ascent leads to Phakding (2610m) Teahouse overnight stay.
Today’s route crosses the Dudh Koshi River, then we slowly ascend the valley to Toktak (2760m) and Benkar (2710m). The route follows the valley of the river and is bordered by a lovely blue pine and rhododendron forest, which is especially attractive in the spring when the flowers are in bloom and you can also see a stunning waterfall. At Benkar, we will be able to glimpse the snow-capped peaks of Thamserku (6623m) and Khumbi La (5765m). At Benkar, we cross the Dudh Kosi River. Monjo is a short walk away from here (2840m). You must verify your permits before entering the Sagarnatha (Everest) national park, which is just beyond the Monjo hike.
After the checking of the permits, the west banks of the river are followed before a steep, rocky descent to a huge farm and a bridge crossing at Dudh Kosi. Jorsale is located a short further up the river (2830m). After short ascending and descending, the path makes a strong climb near the junction of the two rivers (Bhote Koshi and Dush Koshi), then a small climb and re-crosses the bridge at Dudh Koshi. After that, the trail continues to ascend sharply into Namche Bazaar (3440m).
One hour before arriving in Namche Bazaar, we may get our first-ever glimpse and opportunity for photographs of Mounts Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), and Nuptse (7879m). Climbing again, the path takes us through pine trees to reach the village of Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Namche Bazaar.
The entire day today is crucial for relaxation and acclimatization. The local market in Namche is well-known because it attracts Sherpas from nearby villages who come to shop and mingle every week. The lowland settlements, which might be up to a 6- to 10-day trek from Namche Bazar, are where all non-local food is imported, including rice, corn, and certain vegetables.
The breathtaking morning and sunrise over the vista of the Khumbu peaks await those who rise early and ascend to the ridge above Namche. You may take a stroll along the Thami Valley in the afternoon or go to the National Park Headquarters to observe the informative exhibits on Sherpa culture, mountaineering in the park, and flora and wildlife. On the day of acclimatization, you may also go to Thame monastery and the viewpoint.
The viewpoint provides a magnificent panorama of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest (8848), Lhotse (8516), Lhotse Shar (8382), Nuptse (7879), Ama Dablam (6856), Thamserku (6623), Kangtega (6783), Kusum Khangaru (6367), Cholaste (6335), Tabuche peak (6495), Khumbi La (5764m) and so on. Stay overnight at teahouses in Namche.
Today’s trek starts with a short and moderate ascent to the Chor camp at Namche Bazaar, after which it continues as an easy, flat walk to Kyangjuma, 3550m. Incredible views of Mt. Everest (8848), Lhotse (8516), Lhotse Shar (8382), Nuptse (7879), Peak-38 (7591), Ama Dablam (6856), Thamserku (6623), Kangtega (6783), Kusum Kangaru (6367), Cholaste (6335), Tabuche peak (6495), Khumbi La (5765), and Kwangde Ri can be witnessed during the trek. The route from Kyangjuma to Sanasa is an easy, flat stroll through a rhododendron woodland.
There are three routes from which one path upward on the left side leads to the Gokyo valley trek and another way on the right-hand side leads to the direct Everest base camp trek. From here, the route ascends steeply for an hour and a half to reach Mongla danda (3978m), where there are a few teahouses and a chorten. You may take a break here and take in the breathtaking views of Mt. Ama Dablam and other summits.
The route to Phortse Thanga drops steeply in bends from Mongla Danda (3680m). You will come across two routes from Phortse Thanga, the upper trail leading to the Gokyo Valley Trek and the lower trail leading to Phortse village. The route ascends steeply from Phortse Thanga through juniper and rhododendron forests, then levels off for a little while before arriving at Dole (4090m). Teahouse overnight stay.
On today’s hike from Dole to Machhermo, you will gradually ascent along the valley’s edge, where tiny, prickly bushes give place to scrub juniper as you gain altitude. In the summer, yaks are brought to these pastures to feed, and the route passes a number of these seasonal communities. Excellent views of Cho Oyu (8201m) are in front of you, while Kantega (6783m) and Thamserku are visible in the valley below (6623m). After passing through Lhabarma (4330 meters), Luza (4340 meters), and Machhermo (4410 meters), you arrive and spend the night in a teahouse.
Today’s hike from Machhermo to Gokyo reaches a ridge for a good view of both the upward direction toward Cho-Oyu and the downhill direction to Kangtega (8201m). Beyond the ridge, the valley opens out as the trail travels through Pangka at 4390 meters above sea level and then descends to the river’s edge before starting its ascent to the Ngozumpa glacier’s terminal moraine. To get to the first little lake, Longponga (4650 meters), where a Brahmin duck family has lived for many years, one must ascend a steep moraine and switch back beside a stream. Following the valley past a second lake known as Taujung (4710m), the route now nearly levels off as it continues the climb to Gokyo Lake (4750m). Nighttime in the teahouse.
Today, we have a difficult ascent to the summit of Gokyo RI that we must do early in the morning (5357m). Gorgeous views can be seen of the Gokyo valley, the enormous Ngozumpa Glacier, and the entire Khumbu mountain range, which includes the giants Cho Oyu (8201m), Mt. Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Nuptse (7879m), Makalu (8481m), Cholaste (6335m), Tabuche peak (6495m), and Gychung Kang (7922m). After taking in the breathtaking views of Gokyo Ri, return to Gokyo (4750m) and hike to Thangnak for two to three hours. A little portion of the path ascends, followed by a smooth ascent and descent in a glacier, followed by a 45-minute flat descent in a valley to reach Thangnak (4700m), the base camp of Cho La Pass. Beautiful views of the mountains and the surrounding landscape can be seen throughout the trail. The trek from Gokyo Lake to Thangna is quite amazing. overnight stay at a lodge.
Today will be one of the harder days because, although the pass is not very challenging, it is steep and requires across a glacier on the eastern side. We must tread cautiously since the trail is vertical and the ice-glazed boulders provide a hazard to hikers and make the trail slippery. From Phedi, our path ascends steadily along a steep track that passes through a small valley. The panorama in front of us becomes more and more enthralling as we ascend. We hike across a frozen lake’s shore as we ascend to the summit of the Cho La pass, which is 5368 meters high and festooned with prayer flags.
We can see famous mountains like Kyajo Ri, Tengkangpoche, Numbur, and Kangchung while hiking on the Pass and from the summit. While Cholatse soars to the west, Lobuche East, and Baruntse rises abruptly to our right, the pyramidal Ama Dablam rules over a range of mountains on the south. Following the Cho La pass, the trail descends abruptly towards the Dzonglha (4,830 m), passing through a few crevasses and pine forests. Once we arrive at Dzongla, another stunning location with a complete view of Mt. Cholatse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Lobuche, and the Pheriche village far below, we continue on. Finally, you arrive at Dzongla (4830 meters), where there are some simple teahouse amenities. Teahouse overnight stay.
Today, the distance between Dzongla and Lobuche is shorter and the path is easier, allowing you to enjoy the journey after passing through Cho La Pass (5368m). Once you reach Lobuche, the route gently ascends and falls (4910m). Excellent views of Ama Dablam, the Nuptse-Lhotse, Everest, Pumori, Lobuche peak, etc. are offered on this hike. A noteworthy sight is a sunset over Nuptse from the little settlement of Lobuche, which is located close to the stream.
The track follows the western side of the Khumbu Valley, slowly ascending through meadows close to the glacier moraine before climbing and descending on a stony road with some band-rounding. Amazing views of Pumori (7167m), Lingtren (6713m), Khumbutse (6639m), Nuptse (7879m), Lobuche east (6090m), as well as the Khumbu glacier and icefall, can be seen along the route. You will slightly drop to Gorak Shep after completing a few bands (5140m). Upon arrival in Gorak Shep, stay overnight in a teahouse.
Today, early in the morning, hike up to Kala Patter from Gorak Shep for stunning views of the many Himalayas and the sunrise. The path from Gorak Sheep to Kala Patter begins with a tough climb up and takes around 30 minutes to reach the level terrain. Following the trail’s steep ascent with several twists, you eventually arrive at Kala Patter. From there, it is another 50 meters of hard, rocky ascent before reaching the summit of the main Kala Pattar (5545m). Today, you may get a fantastic view of the dawn on Mounts Everest (8848.86), Lhotse (8516), Nuptse (7879), Ama Dablam (6856), Thamserku (6623), Kangtega (6783), Cholaste (6335), Tabuche peak (6495), Lobuche peak (6090), Lingtren (6713), Khumbutse (6639), Khumbu Icefall, and other lakes.
Once you reach Kala Pattar, you could experience a close encounter with Mount Pumori and get a close-up glimpse of Mount Everest. Finally, the dream comes true. After returning to Gorak Shep for breakfast and continuing the hike towards Everest base camp. The trek to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorak Shep will take you around four and a half hours. The trek route is over snow- and glacier-covered rocks. Around the Everest Base Camp, there are a lot of little frozen lakes to be seen. Pumori (7165m), Lingtren (6713m), Khumbutse (6639m), Nuptse (7879m), and Lhotse (8516m) are a few of the mountains that can be seen from Everest base camp, but Mount Everest (8848.86m) cannot be seen from there. The Khumbu icefall is visible from Everest base camp and is the most stunning sight. Return to Gorak Shep after taking in the breathtaking scenery at Everest base camp. Spend the night in the teahouse.
You will travel through Lobuche and Dingboche as you make your way down to Pangboche today. A little distance from Dughla, you will bridge a river that originates from Everest Base Camp and the Khumbu Icefall, after which you will encounter two trails, one of which leads to Dingboche and the other, lower, to Pheriche. Trek along the left-hand side goes to Dingboche past Dusa and a chorten at the top of the Imja Khola, where the descent is flat and easy.
We reach Pangboche village after a few hours of descent through lush forest and stunning mountain views. Spend the night there.
From Pangboche, we will move on to Namche Bazaar today. The trail descends past some exquisitely carved mani stones to the Imja Khola, which we cross via a steel suspension bridge high above the river at a location where the river rushes through a narrow cleft. From there, we continue to Debuche and climb steeply up to Tengboche through a forest of birches, conifers, and rhododendrons. You arrive at Tengboche at last (3867m). From Tengboche, you can take in the mesmerizing views of the sunset and sunrise as well as the amazing vista of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan peaks.
From there, it takes an hour and a half for us to cross a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River and then slowly descend on a zigzag path bridge. When we get at Kyangjuma, we then ascend using stone stairs. The route then remains flat for roughly 3 hours until it reaches Namche. Stay the night at the Lodge.
It is a long hike from Namche to Lukla. At Jorsale, the return trip to Dudh Koshi is rocky and steeply descending. Next, Monjo and Chablung are encountered on the way to Lukla. On the way back, take in the breathtaking countryside, distinctive local customs and culture, teahouses, rushing rivers, and much more. After arriving in Lukla, spend the night at the lodge.
