Itinerary

Day 1 Kathmandu to Jiri drive

We will travel 187 kilometres (approximately seven and a half hours) by car from Kathmandu to Jiri today. To get to Jiri, a full day bus ride up the Sun-Koshi river valley may be challenging yet scenic. The Jirel people, a Tibeto-Burman group with cultural ties to the Sherpa and Sunuwars, have their major settlement at Jiri.

Day 2 Trek from Jiri to Deurali

At 2400m, we start climbing to the top of the ridge and then descend steeply to Shivalaya (1800m). We go through small Tamang villages and agricultural areas. The unwavering route to Deurali heads up the spur’s terminus and into a filthy channel. Following a few of level wooden bridge crossings, a winding forest track will take you on a vertical climb towards the Deurali pass. Mani walls embellished with the Tibetan Buddhist mantra shield Deurali (2705m). At the Deurali lodges tonight.

Day 3 Trek from Deurali to Sete

The primary trail descends the hillside in a straight manner from Deurali. As you approach the 2200-meter Bhandar perimeter, you will see a Sherpa settlement dotted with little Gompas (Buddhist temples) and prayer walls. At the bottom of the valley, after travelling east on the muddy road, are two suspension bridges. After making one last suspension bridge crossing to reach Kinja (1630m), the final curve is a gentle one beside the east bank of Likhu Khola. The trail starts a nearly steep ascent from Kinja then switches back up above the hamlet. To reach Sete (2575m), the trail ascends sharply along a ridge that is densely covered with oak and rhododendron trees. A must-see is the Ihakhang, a little yet historically significant Buddhist temple.

Day 4 Trek from Sete to Junbesi

It’s a lengthy and challenging climb to the Lamjura Bhanjyang (3530m) in the first part of today. During the winter, you can see snow and frost on the trail. The trail meanders through a sodden, moss-covered woodland of tangled birch, magnolia, maple, and rhododendron trees. The highest point on the trail between Jiri and Namche Bazzar is Lamjura Bhanjyang. From here, the trail meanders through fragrant trees of rhododendron and fir, dropping slowly beneath the valley. The last section of the route to Junbesi descends sharply past terraced fields and passes some ornamented mantras etched into a rock face. You will be treated to some breathtaking vistas of Dudh Kunda, Mount Gaurishankar, and the Himalayas.

Day 5 Trek from Junbesi to Nunthala

Today, at 2560 metres, the trail crosses the Junbesi Khola on a wooden bridge and comes to a major trail intersection. The route to Khumbu suddenly climbs uphill through a landscape of pines and cows. The original sight of Everest, popped between the snowy crowns of Thamserku (6608m), Katenga (6685m) and so on. The trail heads north, passing through copses of pines and meadows until arriving at the Salung hamlet (2860m).
We pass a big suspension bridge over the Dudh Khola at a height of 2510 metres, and we ascend past several Mani and the evocative Buddhist Chorten. The track descends through bird-rich conifer and rhododendron forests beneath Tarkshindu (3071m). When the trail reaches Nunthala, it crosses a lovely brook and disappears into the jumble of loose rocks.

Day 6 Nunthala trekking to Kharikhola

From this point on, the fall continues on to Dudh Kosi, where the trail lowers sharply through a mixture of agriculture and forest for an hour. Heading back towards the Rai village of Jubling (1680m), the track passes past fields of barley, wheat, and maize. The route led us to the settlement of Khari Khola by a gradual ascent around a point.

Day 7 Kharikhola trekking to Puiyan

At 1930 metres, we cross the suspension bridge over the Kharikhola. The trail climbs vertically to Bupsa (2360m), which is surrounded by terraces of corn and wheat beneath a thick oak woodland. The trail climbs through monkey-inhabited woodland and Sherpa settlements before winding sharply up and down the Dudh Koshi canyon to Puiyan. Take a night stay in any of the lodges.

Day 8 Puiyan treeking to Phakding

From Puiyan, the track climbs for almost an hour to a ridge at 2800 metres. After passing through Lukla Airport, take the gentle route up the hillside on the Dudh Koshi River’s left bank. You will be able to see the Mount Kwongde Range, Kusum Kangaru (6367m), and Mt. Nupla (5885m) while travelling. After that, we make the two-hour easy trek to Phakding village, where we will spend the night, and spend the remaining day exploring the hamlet to learn about the locals.

Day 9 Phakding to Namche Bazaar

We wander up the valley after crossing the river at Phakding. The trail is closer to the river valley and winds through a sequence of stunning blue pine and rhododendron forests, which is especially lovely in the spring when the flowers blossom. Once we cross the Dudh Kosi River at Benkar, we are able to see the picturesque snow-capped peaks of Thamserku (6623m) and Kusum Kanguru (6369m). We reach Monjo (2835m) in time for lunch after a quick stroll from here. Walking to Namche Bazaar during the day can be a little challenging due to the steep incline. After a quick march from Monjo to the national park’s entrance, go on to Jorsale (2805m) by crossing the Dudh Kosi River. The trip continues upstream on mostly level ground, returning to the right bank at the point where the Bhote Kosi and Dudh Kosi Rivers converge. We progressively climb at a steady speed, crossing a massive, sturdy suspension bridge far above the river. With the summits of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Taweche (6542m) visible, there are some very breathtaking views.

Day 10 Namche Bazaar(Acclimatization Day)

In Namche Bazaar, we spend a day of rest to properly acclimatise to the altitude. Nestled in a spacious, well-protected hollow sits the prosperous community of Namche. You can see the sunrise and sunset from the national park headquarters, which is located above the settlement. The breathtaking vista features breathtaking views of Everest as well as the Khumbu peaks. Following breakfast, we have two options: walking to Thami (3810m), which is perched above the breathtaking Bhote Khola River Valley, or visiting the national park headquarters to see the unusual examples of Sherpa culture and way of life. In addition, there is information about the park’s flora and animals as well as a display on mountaineering.

Day 11 Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

We stroll from Namche Bazaar to the park headquarters and then ascend to a point above the Dudh Kosi River. Beyond Namche, the Tengboche trail becomes prominent, with the monastery encircled by other Himalayan peaks and located beneath Everest’s summit. On the high land above the trail, one can also view the Himalayan tahr and the stunning Danfe pheasant, which is frequently spotted among the silver fir and birch forest between Shanasa and Trashinga. The trail descends sharply from the reforestation nursery at Trashinga till it meets the Dudh Kosi River at Phunkitenga (3250m). Following lunch, we ascend steeply through forests of black juniper, pine, fir, and rhododendron to Tengboche in the afternoon. Situated in a peaceful and serene setting, the monastery and our resort are flanked by massive Himalayan peaks on a lovely grazing pasture. The three most noticeable peaks that can be viewed from this location are Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, and Kantega.

Day 12 Thyangboche to Dingboche

Ascending steadily above the Imja Khola (River), we continue to the tea houses at Orsho and then bridge the river and the ancient glacial moraines on our way to our guesthouse in the Dingboche town. The Lhotse-Nuptse ridge, which rises above the valley’s eastern terminus, conceals Everest, which is shrouded behind the breathtaking surroundings.

Day 13 Dingboche (Rest and Acclimatization Day)

Undoubtedly, Dingboche is a striking conglomeration of tiny fields surrounded by stone walls that shield the potatoes and barley crops from the brisk winds. It is mostly carried out during the monsoon season, when a large number of yaks are brought in to graze on the valley meadow. The massive Taweche rock formations behind the resort give the impression that we are ascending towards heaven. Chukkung is an additional reasonable choice. The views from this valley are breathtaking, including the fluted ice walls of unnamed peaks lined up at the southern end, the towering south face of Lhotse to the north, and Island Peak at the centre of the valley.

Day 14 Dingboche to Lobuche

We ascend the little point that follows the village over Pheriche Valley as the sun rises. At the summit, Taweche and Cholatse (6440m) present a striking image of themselves, appearing to lean forward from the other side of the valley to the west. The snowfields of Cho La and Lobuche Peak (6119m) are visible to the north. These days, most of the walking is on open fields, so be sure to stay well-hydrated. Then, at Dughla (4620m), we cross the Khumbu Khola (River) and have a quick lunch at the base of the massive terminal moraines of the Khumbu Glacier. At the summit of the valley, one may enjoy a breathtaking view of Pumori (7145m) and Changtse (7550m), which are located in Tibet across the border, just as Everest disappears behind the massive cliffs of Nuptse and Lhotse.

Day 15 Lobuchec to Gorakshep- Everest Base Camp- Gorakshep- 8 hrs. (51300m.)

We walk from Lobuche to the broad valley, which is comparable to Khumbu Glacier. We can maintain the calm, steady pace that is necessary when walking at high altitudes with the help of a firm path up. Upon reaching the Changri Nup Glacier moraines, we embark on a series of short, steep hikes along a shaky path dotted with cairns, which leads us to the edge of Gorak Shep’s azure glacial sands (5160m). After that, we depart in the direction of Everest Base Camp. The starting place for mountain climbers to reach the summit is Everest Base Camp. It is impossible to put into words the feeling of being at the base of the highest peak in the world. In the afternoon, we travel down to Gorakshep, where we spend the night.

Day 16 Gorakshep to Pheriche Trekking via Kalapatthar- 6 hrs. (5160m.)

We walk to Kalapatthar, a little peak, on this particular day. A sense of paradise is created by the expansive vistas of the surrounding mountains and glaciers, which include up-close views of Mt. Everest, Amadablam, and Pumori. We keep walking till we reach Pheriche, a tiny town. While spending the night in Pheriche, you can tour the village.

Day 17 Pheriche - Namche Bazaar Trekking- 8 hrs. (3440m.)

We walk from Pheriche back to Tengboche on this particular day. The walk is enjoyable, and the views of the mountains and woodlands are breathtaking. Tengboche settlement is reached. You’ll have time to stroll around the village and its environs. Our overnight stay is at a guest home. The route back to Namche Bazaar passes through picturesque pastureland and valleys. We proceed after passing Tengboche and take in the gorgeous scenery of Monjo Valley. The mountains’ distance gives you the impression that you are constantly observing. After arriving at Namche Bazar, we spend the night in a lodge.

Day 18 Namche- Phakding-Lukla- 7 hrs. (2800m.)

This day-hiking trail has a tough walk along a sandy road. There are many breathtaking views of the surrounding area and mountains along the walk. You can browse and purchase locally made goods in Lukla Bazaar. In Lukla, you may toast to a good trek by sipping on speciality beverages. Before spending the night in Lukla, the evening allows you the chance to explore the neighbourhood.

Day 19 Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

Returning to Kathmandu by air. The sweeping views of snowy mountains from your airliner may bring back memories of this brief but picturesque flight. We’ll transport you to the hotel. It is also a fantastic idea to shop in the market, especially for your loved ones. During your final moments in Nepal, you can visit a few places. We all gather together for the celebratory supper in the evening.

Trip Overview

Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trekking

Trekking from Jiri to Everest Base Camp has existed from the earliest days of mountaineering expeditions. At 8,848 metres, Sagarmatha (Everest) has its unique allure, luring climbers to reach its summit and hikers to admire its snowy features. One of the most well-liked trekking routes in Nepal is the Jiri to Everest base camp route, yet not many individuals who complete the walk are unaffected by the sensation of being in the shadow of the world’s tallest peaks. This amazing trip provides an amazing chance to reach the summit of Kalapathar Top (5,545m), see the base camp region, get up close and personal with the local people, and witness some of the world’s tallest mountains, such as Makalu, Lhotse, Everest, and Nuptse. It travels the same path as Mr. Tenzing Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary did in 1952.

Following a breathtaking seven-hour trip to Jiri, we take the breathtaking route through the Solukhumbu region, passing through the centre of upscale Sherpa settlements, each offering something unique. It provides enough of opportunity to discover the stunning forest, rural farming areas, and numerous high-altitude monasteries en route to Lukla. After leaving Lukla behind, we continue uphill to Namche, the major trading village in the Khumbu region, and then on to Pheriche and Lobuche via the Thyangboche monastery. The breathtaking landscape and distinctive culture of the Sherpa people of Solukhumbu, the area home to Mount Everest and its surrounding lower peaks, are the main draws of the Everest Classic Trek. We spend a few days at the start of the trek acclimating because a large portion of the Everest Classic Trek is conducted at high altitude, which is necessary to ensure a successful journey.
