Itinerary

Day 1 Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1550 m) by jeep, 7 to 8 hours.

The journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the entrance to Langtang National Park, is the first leg of the Langtang Valley Trek with Heli return. The road winds through various tiny villages and beautiful scenery on the seven to eight-hour trek by jeep.

You will be treated to breath-taking views of the Himalayan ranges, including the Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and Dorje Lakpa, as you wind along the twisting route. The route winds through the verdant highlands of Langtang National Park and spans multiple suspension bridges over the Trishuli River.

At last, you will come to Syabrubesi, a tiny settlement on the Langtang River’s banks. You will spend the first night in a traditional tea house in the town, which is the beginning point of the Langtang Valley Trek.

The lengthy but worthwhile trip from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi gives you a taste of the stunning Nepali landscape and establishes the tone for the remainder of your Langtang Helicopter Return Trek.

Day 2 Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2380m)

Following a filling breakfast at our Syabrubesi lodge, we set off on foot in the direction of the Lama Hotel. The track follows the Langtang Khola river upstream as it progressively climbs through a deep forest. We come across amiable residents as we go through tiny towns and villages. After going over a suspension bridge, we climb farther until we get to Bamboo, where we pause for lunch.

We resume our walk after lunch, following the river and climbing higher. With multiple switchbacks and rough portions, the course gets steeper and more difficult. Along the route, we might see Himalayan Thar and langur monkeys, among other animals, as we travel through stunning woods of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo.

After a full day of hiking, we arrive at the small settlement of Lama Hotel, which is located at an elevation of 2380 metres. The settlement offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and is encircled by lovely trees. After arriving at our lodge, we have a nice dinner and a good night’s sleep to get ready for the journey the next day.

Day 3 Lama Hotel to Langtang (3430m)

After having breakfast at Lama Hotel, we will continue our trek towards Langtang. We will follow the Langtang Khola, crossing several suspension bridges and passing through lush forests of oak and rhododendron.

Along the way, we will pass through small settlements such as Gumanchok, Ghoda Tabela, and Thangshyap, which offer amazing views of Langtang Lirung and other snow-capped peaks. We will stop for lunch at a teahouse in Ghoda Tabela.

After lunch, we will continue our trek, passing through the beautiful village of Langtang, which was devastated by the earthquake in 2015 but has since been rebuilt. The village is inhabited by the Tamang people, who are known for their rich culture and hospitality.

We will reach Langtang by the late afternoon, where we will check into a teahouse for the night. Langtang is a beautiful village surrounded by snow-capped peaks and offers amazing views of the valley. In the evening, we can explore the village and interact with the locals.

Day 4 Langtang (3430m) to Kyanjing Gumpa(3870m) and explore (hike to Langtang glacier or Kyanjin Ri)

You will trek from Langtang (3430m) to Kyanjing Gumpa (3870m) on day 4 of the Langtang Valley trip with helicopter return. Although this is a fairly short trek—three to four hours—the substantial elevation rise makes it potentially difficult. Along the journey, you’ll cross multiple creeks, gorgeous rhododendron forests, and suspension bridges.

There will be time for you to tour Kyanjing Gumpa once you are there. You can climb to the Langtang Glacier, which offers breathtaking views. The glacier is a huge mass of snow and ice encircled by sharp peaks. It takes three to four hours to walk to the glacier round trip.

As an alternative, you can walk to Kyanjin Ri, a summit that provides breathtaking all-encompassing views of the Langtang range. The views from the top make the 5- to 6-hour round-trip climb to Kyanjin Ri well worth it.

Following your walk, you can explore the picturesque Kyanjing Gumpa village, which has a cheese factory, a number of lodges and a beautiful atmosphere. You can have a taste of the regional speciality, yak milk cheese, which is produced locally.

Hiking, exploring, and taking in the spectacular vistas all come together on the fourth day of the Langtang Valley hike with helicopter return, which is an exciting day. Spend the night at a neighbourhood teahouse.

Day 5 Return to Kathmandu (1400m) Flying back by Helicopter From Kyanjing after breakfast.

It’s time to return to Kathmandu following an exhilarating hiking adventure in the breathtaking Langtang region. Rather than walking the entire distance back, we will be returning from Kyanjing by helicopter.

We will have breakfast at the Kyanjing teahouse to start the day. After that, we’ll get into the helicopter and take a breathtaking ride over the Langtang Valley. The mesmerising vistas of the Tibetan peaks, Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and the Himalayas will last a lifetime.

We’ll be dropped off at the Kathmandu airport by the helicopter. We will then make our way to the hotel to spend the rest of the day there. We can enjoy a celebratory dinner and stroll through the energetic streets of Thamel once our walk across the Langtang valley with helicopter return has been completed.
