Lodgings

You will travel from Low Camp to High Camp, which is located at an elevation of 3700 metres (12,140 feet), on the third day of the walk. We had to hike the steep and difficult trekking trail for nearly seven or eight hours in order to get to our objective. But the breathtaking scenery we were around by the entire hike made it all worthwhile.

The walk will begin early in the morning, and the first section of the trail is not too difficult. Walking through lush bamboo and rhododendron forests is uplifting due to the peaceful surroundings and clean air. The track gets harder as you go along since you have to make your way through rocky areas and sharp hills. You will be motivated to push yourself to the maximum by the expansive views of the Machhapuchhre peak and the Annapurna range.

You pause at a few teahouses along the way to rest and refuel. People were energised to continue the trek by the hot beverages and snacks supplied at the local tea houses. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mingle with the locals and experience a bit of their way of life and culture. We were made to feel at home by the welcoming and amiable locals.

The day’s destination, High Camp, will finally be reached after several hours of walking. It’s breathtaking to see the surrounding scenery and the snow-capped mountains. The High Camp is cosy and warm despite having little accommodations and amenities. The evening will be spent unwinding and getting used to the high altitude.

Trekking Duration: 7-8 Hours

Lodgings

The journey to the Mardi Base Camp and the subsequent descent to Sidding will provide for a thrilling fourth day of trekking. Get up early, eat breakfast, and prepare your belongings for the next adventure.

The journey to Mardi Base Camp begins with an ascent across rocky and hilly terrain. You could feel the thin air as you ascended higher, and the height gain was considerable. The breathtaking vistas of the neighbouring mountains, though, will never let you lose motivation. The murmur of the streams running by and the verdant woodlands offer a welcome diversion from the arduous ascent.

Magnificent views of the Mardi Himal and the surrounding mountains welcome you as you get closer to the Mardi Base Camp. You couldn’t help but stop and admire the beauty of nature as the snow-covered peaks gleam against the unclouded blue sky. Prior to beginning the descent to Sidding, you will have some time to relax and take in the scenery.

It is comparatively easier to travel down to Sidding than it is to climb up to Mardi Base Camp. A distinct route that passes through lovely villages and thick woodlands will be followed. Small tea houses and shops where you can stop and refuel will be passed by. You will meet kind and hospitable folks and gain insight into their way of life and culture.

You can feel the temperature rising and the scenery shifting as you get lower. The air will get thicker and the green hills and valleys will take the place of the snow-capped Alps. You will arrive to Sidding in the late afternoon, feeling both energised and fatigued.
