Upper Rolwaling Trekking

The Rolwaling Trek provides an amazing viewpoint of the Himalayas, which extend along the finger land’s northeastern edge and jut into Tibet to the northeast of the Kodari-Lhasa-Kathmandu Parkway. It forms the northern edge of an untamed, lovely valley beneath a series of precisely 50 crests that span more than 6000 metres. The pinnacles of Melungtse I (7181m) and II (7023m) in Tibet and the double pinnacles of Gaurishankar (7,145m/23,475ft) on the periphery are responsible for the Upper Rolwaling Trek.

The Rolwaling Khola and its several tributaries support the Upper Rolwaling trek, which is located in the adjacent valley and has a few small settlements, the largest of which is at Bedding. This 2,179 square km area was designated as the Gaurishankar Conservation Area in 2010 and became a protected area. There are precisely 58,000 people living there, with the Tamang people making up the largest group, followed by the Sherpa and Chhetri people.

Our 16-day Upper Rolwaling trip begins with a magnificent drive east of Kathmandu along the 106 km fellowship thruway, passing through breathtaking scenery as we approach the border town. We exit the primary motorway at Khadichur, after another 50 km, and continue eastward until we reach Charikot Dolakha, where the transportation ends. From this point on, our trail varies, often rather steeply, between wide ridges and the confluence of streams, linking picturesque towns of Chhetri, Sherpa, and Tamang.

There are several suspension bridges that stretch across breathtaking chasms to shorten the distances. The route winds through ancient forests of pine, oak, and rhododendron, interspersed with terraced fields surrounding the settlements. There may be excellent views of Gaurishankar and its satellite pinnacles from the top of Daldung La (3900m). The breathtaking Tsho Rolpa, an ice lake hidden behind its terminal moraine, is located past Na, the final Kharka (summer touching town). There is legitimate concern that rising temperatures in the nearby region and softer waters may cause the moraine to burst, wreaking havoc downstream due to environmental change in the Rolwaling trekking area. The lake is being permanently dammed.

At that point, the Upper Rolwaling Trek’s straightforward route goes beyond the Trakarding Glacier and climbs up onto the Drolambau Glacier. The Teshi Lapche La (5755m) on the Slants of Patcham is the trek’s most notable destination. One of the most amazing trekking passes in Nepal, it rises through a glaciated wilderness surrounded by icy pinnacles, such as Tengi Ragi Tau (6943m), Bisphero Go Shar (6729m), and Dragkar (6793m). Situated around 300 metres below the mountain, the steep descent leads to the campground. From this point on, the trail descends sharply into the Solukhumbu to connect with the old Tibetan railway route that leads to the marshes via Namche Bazaar. Because of this, the higher Rolwaling trek ends at Lukla, and a return trip to Kathmandu is arranged.

Meal During Upper Rolwaling Trekking

A significant aspect of holidays is eating. When you go with Mountain Mart Trek, you can sample a wide variety of delicious cuisine, including Chinese, Italian, Continental, Nepalese, and some local cuisines. Dinner, lunch, and breakfast are included in the package. On your walk, your guide will suggest tasty, hygienic, and exceptional food at every location. Owners of mountain cafés tend not to provide a lot of food and squander it since they would prefer to feed more hikers with less supplies before they become stuck and leave. It may take doormen and processions up to seven days of hard labour to deliver food to these locations. Normally, on this walk, you will have dinner at a lodge of a comparable calibre and have lunch at one of the trailside cafés.

Accommodation During Upper Rolwaling Trekking

Upper-Rolwaling-Trekking

A tea house combines the functions of a guest house, café, and hangout for people. Most Tea Houses have private rooms available, while some at high elevations will only have dwellings. The motels are really essential. The rooms are spacious, including twin beds and almost no more furniture. Covers are typically provided. The massive lounge/relax space is heated by the Bukhara stove, which is an iron chamber with a fireplace channel and a log fire ignited inside. Unless the village has hydroelectric power, the rooms are usually dark without electricity. Generally, the lighting in the lounge area is based on sunshine.

These days, the majority of teahouses include electricity to charge small devices like cameras and cell phones; however, there may be a small fee for this service.

Group Size

We believe that a party of no more than 12 people is the perfect number to do the trip with. On the other hand, we can arrange such a trip for groups upon request and have already set up the plan for sizable employee and student groups. Professional local leaders, guides, porters, and assistant guides (if needed) accompany all of our trekking programmes and make sure you are safe and comfortable during the entire trip.
